Have you come up with your plan of attack for the New Year about your healthy? If so, that is awesome. If not, let me offer up a few suggestions.
1. Choose one or two things to implement into your daily routine and commit to it. For those of you who are overweight and make poor choices on food choice and exercise. Keep things simple…just start with changing one or two things so that it’s doable. For example: I will prepare leftovers for the next day’s lunch instead of going out for lunch.
2. Commit to getting up a little earlier and take a walk…even if it’s only 10 or 15 minutes. It will refresh you and start you day off with an energy boost. You can later add a longer/faster walk or even jog. You could take a 10 minute walk, come inside and do 10 squats, 10 push-ups and 10 planks. Make exercise simple!
3. Get an assessment. The new trend in fitness is WELLNESS! Get a posture assessment. A lot of pain issues are derived from poor posture. It’s a fact! Get you posture corrected…it will line the joints up better, help the muscles work better, give you more mobility and help get you out of pain. If you are not in pain…you want to do more.
4. Learn Foundation Training! This goes along with posture. Foundation Training should be in a staple in everyone’s exercise program and daily life. FT will help with posture issues, increase strength and flexibility, improve balance, and decrease back pain. I practice it daily and it works!
The only thing in life we can control are our choices. To be health you have to make choices. I wish everyone would make the choice to be healthier, but they don’t. I will continue to help motivate those individuals and anyone else to choose a healthier way to live.
Have a great day!
Here we go…last couple of days for 2013! Let’s get busy and plan a strategy for changing in 2014. The first thing to do if you are serious about making positive changes in 2014 is to end some bad habits and implement some new better habits.
First, make a list of better habits you would like to implement. Write them down. Now pick one new habit to implement. Work on this one until you get it down before adding the next one. Be consistent with your new habit. For example: if your new habit is to have one cocktail a day instead of 2 or more. Say, I will have 1 cocktail as soon as I get home only. Don’t trick yourself and make it a double….lol! Habits help keep us on track…they help keep me balanced and in control.
Anyway, that’s the first tip for the new year….make better habits. What are some of your habits going to be? Let me hear from you.
Oh by the way…SAINTS made the playoffs!!!!!
The chances of me having a really good day have increased with that Saints victory!!!!!
Now, onto fitness business. My Foundation Training is slowly getting out there…I have several clients starting that regimen and they all love it and definitely can feel “things happening. If they”ll practice everyday like I instruct them….things will happen, they will feel better, they will be aware of how they sit, stand, walk, bend over….they”ll change their bad movement patterns, because now they know what those bad movement patterns were. GOOD STUFF!
Also, I’m gearing up for 2014. I had an odd 2013… Lots of changes in my life…somewhat adjusted as of now. For personal trainers, we love the month of Jan. Lots of new people show up to the gym, lots of people start an exercise program, lots of people just want to start over. I love motivating people to change their bad habits!!! It’s just what I do!
My plans for 2014 will be to get better at this blog, reach as many people as possible talking and teaching health/fitness. I’ll also be sending out a weekly newsletter to your e mail box. If you’d like a newsletter I need your e mail address. I want to get more educated on posture, muscle imbalance, and movement…so I’ll be looking for training in that. I really believe it’s the key to a better body! Also, plan on doing another FOUNDATION TRAINING course. I love FT and all the people involved with it…what a great program! To add to all this- I have a full time job at the dentist office and I need to practice my golf game! How am I gonna do all this?
What in you plans for 2014?
Sunday,Sept 22,2013…Happy Sunday! Beautiful weather here in Mississippi! Played a little golf this morning. Getting lunch ready and my meals for the week. Most important of all getting ready for my SAINTS game! Hope to be 3-0 by 3pm today!
I realize probably 90% of you who had promising resolutions back in January have probably quit. I can tell by my training room group on FB. Jan thru March people posting and talking it up. Come May, I really see it slowing down. After Memorial Day…I am pretty much the main person still posting. Here we are now coming into the last 3 months of the year…..people really get distracted this time of year. We have football games…that means football food and drinks, Halloween…sweets, Thanksgiving and Christmas…more food, drinks, and parties. I love all this stuff also…but all the more reason to dig in and get a daily workout in. Eat healthy during the week if you have a football outing on the weekend. Don’t say, I’ll start over in January!!! You can do a lot of damage during these last 3 months.
Come on everyone…dig in these last 3 months. Get to that gym, that walking trail. Do that bike race coming up, or 5k walk. You’ll be so happy Jan 1,2014 when your not 15 lbs heavier!
Have a great Sunday…and GEAUX SAINTS!
