POSTURE BREAKS

Take a posture break every hour.   Everyone should get up and move around consistently during their day.  

Being to busy is not an acceptable excuse!  We are all busy… Stand up at your desk and shake those legs out.  Stand when talking on the phone.  If you are a lucky individual who knows FOUNDATION TRAINING…do a decompression pose or a founder.  After lunch take a quick walk around the parking lot or the office building.  If it’s to hot…pace up and down the hall.

Sitting is bad period!  Get up and move.  Get into a good posture and breathe deeply.  Sit in good posture. Take notice of where your head is, are shoulders slumped, are your feed under your knees, are you sitting on one hip more than the other?  All this stuff is important.  If you knew FOUNDATION TRAINING you would be aware of your posture.

MOVE

Morning! 

Get up and get moving…

I mean really…MOVING!  Just move.  Get on the floor and roll around.  Get down there and crawl around your house or crawl in the back yard.  Your body will like it.

Moving doesn’t mean you have to lift weights necessarily.  Experiment with your body.  What movement is hard? Can you even get to the floor?  If not…you really need to seek help in freeing your joints up.  

We could all move so well as children.  Watch your kids or grand kids play.  Watch how they move.  Watch how a baby figures out how to get from place to place…they are developing strength.  Get on the floor with them.  They can crawl all day and we can do it 5 minutes.  

I’m off to take my walk, a little crawling around and see what new move I make my body do and of course some Foundation Training thrown in.

POSTURE

Friday 4/24/15

The month of May is NATIONAL POSTURE MONTH!  I will be spending a lot of time talking about posture and ways to work on improving posture in order to improve balance, strength, frame, movement and overall health.

I will be at the FLOWOOD YMCA – SAT MAY 16 @ 9:30 for a workshop on posture.  If you would like to have your posture looked at and learn a few tips on how to improve your posture come to this event.  Cost is 20.00 for YMCA members and 30.00 for non members.  

Poor posture leads to pain issues!  Trust me…most of us have been in poor posture most of our lives.  Poor posture causes poor mechanics between the muscles and bones.  In others words, we move improperly.  Just becoming aware of your own body and how you use it to move will be eye opening…”awareness” leads to the ability to change.

IMPROVE…AS YOU AGE

You can improve as you age. Start with the basics…improve your posture.  Turn on the posterior chain and get your back muscles working again.  Yes, fire up the glutei…you still have butt muscles…use them!  Let them do their job, which is to help support your weight.  Get that head back up over your shoulders.  The more you have it sticking out the more your neck, shoulders and back are going to hurt!  

FOUNDATION TRAINING is your solution to better health and body improvement!  I promise you learning FOUNDATION TRAINING will correct that forward head, rounded shoulders, weak back muscles, tight hamstrings and much more.  

All I can do is keep telling everyone about FOUNDATION TRAINING.  I do this because I love it, believe in it and I know it works!  

Yesterday, I posted a few pictures of people in poor posture.  These people have muscular imbalances and pain issues.  I have worked with 3 of the people personally.  Take a look at today’s pictures… They are learning about their body.  They are learning why they have these issues and what to do to fix them.

AWARENESS

Sunday 11/17/13:
Whoo Hooo …Saints game day!!! Important game today with the 49ers. Rainy, dreary day here in Ms. Cooked chicken chili soup yesterday. Today, some veggies and salmon for the upcoming week. Good day for staying in and preparing for the work week.

Shared several thoughts yesterday with some other FT instructors from various parts of the country. Mainly discussing our passion for the body of work that we do and the clients that we help. I pay attention to people around my all the time….how they move, pace of movement, posture, what they eat….really just all kinds of stuff. So many people just don’t have a clue as to how they are putting their bodies thru such terrible stresses and bad habits. It just takes some awareness and a little “body education” to move better and feel better.

One of my clients yesterday that I’m doing Foundation Training with…she’s only seen me 3 times…was telling me how much better she feels. I was like, that is so awesome. She travels a lot by plane. She went on to say, that last week in the airport As she was pulling her rolling bag, that she stood up straight-brought my arm in closer to my body- tried to lift chest and bring navel in….I could move so much easier and didn’t feel like I was walking uphill. Usually, I’m leaning forward dragging the bag with my arm way behind me.
This is AWARNESS big time. She also, went on to say…I saw so many people just walking leaned over…I just wanted to go up to them and try to correct them…. When she told me this…it just re-enforces that this work is so much needed. There is no way to help everyone…just keep helping those that end up coming your way… In time it will multiply.

Also, what an awesome group of Foundation Teachers I have become aquatinted with. A lot of them I have never even met, but when we share our experiences on our site… It’s like I’ve been working with them for years. It is an absolute privilege to learn with so many caring fitness professionals.
